360 time

Monday, November 17th, 2008
Just like Ash, I lamented not being able to use my XBox 360, and having it just relinquish its functionality as game-playing device, for it to evolve into a purely symbolic gesture of gamerhood. Like the 40-something executive who's still a little edgy, so he mounts skateboard decks on his office wall. Yeah, they're up there, pal, but the last time you used one was fifteen years ago. You're not fooling anyone, James Thursby of NSFT Creative Holdings!

Anyway, look. I want to play games on XBox Live with you guys. Maybe we can convince Erica to join in too. Let's figure something out. Here's my gamertag and the games I have:

Gamertag: Vanderbeam

Halo 3
Gears of War 2
Da Orange Box
Dead Space (no multiplayer though)
Bioshock (also no multiplayer)

Is that really it? I thought I had more stuff, but I just sold back a couple games. Comment here, let's make a group or something. Also if you have a recommendation for good multiplayer games, let's do it.

Write a Tagline, Win Books and a Jinxlet!

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Readers of Sheldon know that Dave had a contest in which people submitted taglines for his strip. The winner (I think) was “the best things in life are squee.” I think that sums it up pretty well, and so did his contestants.

I’m struggling to figure out the same thing for Starslip, so I’m just going to open up the floor for comments. Starslip Crisis never had a tagline — what should it be? What encapsulates the strip in just a catchy stand-alone sentence?

Here’s some proof I’m bad at taglines for my own work: does anyone remember the old Checkerboard Nightmare tagline? “An adventure in unkept promises.” Sounds more like a tagline for Hi and Lois.

Let’s make it interesting — the submission I settle on will receive both Starslip Crisis Vol. 1 and 2 and a Jinxlet in the mail! (I won’t call it a contest, because contests are organized.) I’ll close the comments on this and hold a vote for the winner on Monday, November 17th. Comment below, in this post!
