PAX West 2018 Schedule

GUESS WHAT! PAX West 2018 in Seattle is right around the corner. You can find me in Bandland alongside Bill Amend, Loading Ready Run, and all the bands necessitating said land. And if I’m not at my table, I’m probably on one of the following panels:

Jackbox Party PAX

From wacky art auctions to competitive lying to monster-movie dating shows, Jackbox is chock-full o’ fun – but it’s even funner when played by a cast of beloved internet personalities! Watch Jerry Holkins, Kris Straub, Graham Stark, Kathleen DeVere, and Kate Stark play games for you, the audience! Come on down and watch the carnage. Er, comedy. We meant comedy.

The Improvised Postmortem

Video game postmortems can be informative, but what would happen if the games didn’t actually exist? Pat Baer has invited his friends to improvise five-minute postmortems based on fake video game titles. Why was Attack of the Kitchen Ghost such a success? Why did Taco Teen fail in the European market? You’ll have to come to The Improvised Postmortem to find out!

Acquisitions Incorporated: The “C” Team Q&A

It’s time to see the better show. Join Ryan Hartman (Donaar Blitzen), Kris Straub (K’thriss Drowb), Amy Falcone (Walnut Dankgrass), and Kate Welch (Rosie Beestinger) from Acquisitions Incorporated: The “C” Team for a live Q&A. Do you have questions? Do they have answers? Who can say. If you miss this live panel don’t forget you can always catch them on twitch.tv/penny-arcade every Wednesday at 4:00pm PST! Feed that horse!

Pitch Your Game

Do you have a hot game idea, a stunning piece of intellectual property urgently pawing at the door of your mind, desperate to be let out? Let it out at once! Or rather, let it out at once at this panel, at the appropriate time. Our panel of esteemed experts will judge it accordingly, and then nothing will happen because this is primarily an entertainment panel. Do not bring your business plan.

Scared Yet: A Discussion of Horror in Media

Jump scare! Kris Straub (Broodhollow, Candle Cove) and a panel of esteemed horror enthusiasts hold an informal roundtable on where fear works best, and where it doesn’t make the cut. Come for the frightening… stay for the enlightening.

Am I Playing a Role: Identity Exploration and RPGs

There is growing interest in the use of RPGs as a therapeutic vehicle, but fans have said for decades that RPGs help them become the people that they are. Why do we play the characters we choose? Is it social practice, fantasy fulfillment, or something else? Join Take This and our panel of elite RPG creators, streamers, and professionals as we discuss identity exploration through player characters.
